However, your work entitles you to various types of compensation and legal protection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since the different compensations come from different places, you have to apply for each one you want to receive independently of each other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please note that in most cases Hufak needs to give you a confirmation of your student representation work, which we can only do after you&#8217;ve completed a full semester in your position. You can collect your confirmations for the winter semester at the end of January, confirmations for the summer semester at the end of June.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">ECTS<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary>qualifies you for ECTS that you can use for Freie Wahlf\u00e4cher (and, in some study programmes, even for your Wahlf\u00e4cher) <\/summary>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>what?\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>you get ECTS that you can use for Freie Wahlf\u00e4cher (based on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ris.bka.gv.at\/GeltendeFassung.wxe?Abfrage=Bundesnormen&amp;Gesetzesnummer=20008892&amp;FassungVom=2024-01-01\">\u00a731 Abs. 3 HSG<\/a>)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>6 ECTS for every semester of being an elected StV (whether Vorsitz or normal member)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2 ECTS for every semester of being a StuKo or Berufungskommission member (whether main or substitute member)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>when?\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>as soon as you have completed at least one semester of any \u00d6H position &#8212; you can wait and apply for one big chunk of ECTS at the end, or get smaller portions in between if\/when you need them<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>how?\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>fill in Antrag auf Ersatz von ECTS-Anrechnungspunkten (both pages, except the &#8220;Best\u00e4tigung&#8221; column and the signature box on the 2nd page)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>drop the form off at the Hufak secretary in OKP (Mo-Fr 9-13h)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>we&#8217;ll sign+stamp the form for you, then pass it on to Studiendekan (Dean of Studies)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Toleranzsemester for Studienbeihilfe-Empf\u00e4ngerInnen<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary>If you receive Studienbeihilfe, student representation work can extend the time which you qualify to receive it. (The same apparently applies to BAf\u00f6G, we can give you a confirmation of your student representation work but you will have to figure out the application process yourself.)<\/summary>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>what?\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>&#8220;Zeiten als Studierendenvertreterin oder Studierendenvertreter sind [&#8230;] bis zum H\u00f6chstausma\u00df von vier Semestern zur Erlangung von Studienbeihilfen nach dem Studienf\u00f6rderungsgesetz 1992 [&#8230;] nicht in die darin vorgesehene h\u00f6chstzul\u00e4ssige Studienzeit einzurechnen&#8221; (HSG 2014, \u00a731 Abs. 2 and Studienf\u00f6rderungsgesetz 1992)\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u00be semester extra per semester of being StV-Vorsitz<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bd semester extra per semester of being StV-member<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bc semester extra per semester of being StuKo-member (need to be member for at least 2 semesters!)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>fractional semesters (e.g. \u00bc, \u00bd) are rounded up<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Toleranzsemester <strong>are not transferrable between studies<\/strong> (also not between Bachelors and Masters of the same course!)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>how?\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>use form SB9<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>hand the form in at the Hufak secretary, they will get it stamped+signed for you and tell you when you can pick the form up again (usually takes a few days)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>submit directly to Studienbeihilfenstelle<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Tuition fee exemption<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary>Angewandte grants tuition fee exemptions for student representation work, both to Austrian\/EU and international students.<\/summary>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>what?\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>based on Satzung of Angewandte (Part II \u00a7 3a):\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>1 semester exemption per semester of being StV-Vorsitz or StuKo-member<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 semester exemption for every 2 semesters of being normal StV-member or Berufungskommissions-member<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>extra semesters earned <strong>are transferrable between studies at Angewandte<\/strong> (e.g. apply for exemption during your Masters for StV work you did during the Bachelor)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>no more than 4 semesters in total!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>when?\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>apply before or during the semester that you want to be exempt for\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>for the winter semester: by the subsequent 31st March<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>for the summer semester: by the subsequent 30th September<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>international students: apply as soon as you have earned a full semester worth of exemption<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Austria\/EU: wait until you exceed minimum study time, then start applying<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>how?\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>two forms:\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>the general exemption\/reduction form of Studienabteilung (English \/ German)\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>under &#8216;other reasons&#8217; write: \u00d6H-T\u00e4tigkeit<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>using the same form SB9 that is used for Studienbeihilfe?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>submit it to Studienabteilung (<a href=\"mailto:studien@uni-ak.ac.at\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">studien@uni-ak.ac.at<\/a>, or drop off at the Student Info Point at OKP)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Refund of childcare costs<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary>If childcare costs are incurred in the course of your work as a student representative, these can (partially) be refunded according to the financial regulations of Hufak and Bundes \u00d6H.<\/summary>\n<p>Contact the Hufak secretary for more information. Refund is guided by the current version of the Satzung, here are the terms as of 2026:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-style-plain is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow is-style-plain--1\">\n<p>(1) If childcare costs are incurred in connection with work for the Austrian National Union of Students, up to \u20ac25.00 per hour can be reimbursed for one child in care. This amount increases by \u20ac5.00 per hour for each additional child sent into care. Proof of the caregiver&#8217;s qualifications, such as specialized training or other experience, must be provided. Reimbursement is not possible if the care is provided by relatives up to the third degree or persons living in the same household.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(2) If the childcare is provided on a commercial basis, the entire cost can be reimbursed.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Reduced mandatory course attendance<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary>If you miss classes with compulsory attendance because of student representation work, you can go below the mandatory attendance requirement. <\/summary>\n<p>\u00a731 HSG 2014:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-style-plain is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow is-style-plain--2\">\n<p>(6) Soweit f\u00fcr eine Lehrveranstaltung an einer Bildungseinrichtung eine Anwesenheitsverpflichtung vorgesehen ist, kann diese von Studierendenvertreterinnen und Studierendenvertretern, zus\u00e4tzlich zu den bestehenden Regelungen betreffend die Ausnahmen der Anwesenheitsverpflichtung, um h\u00f6chstens 30 vH f\u00fcr T\u00e4tigkeiten als Studierendenvertreterin oder Studierendenvertreter unterschritten werden. Dies gilt nicht, wenn die vollst\u00e4ndige Anwesenheit zur Erlangung einer Berufsberechtigung erforderlich ist. Die Leiterin oder der Leiter der Lehrveranstaltung ist berechtigt, die Vorlage eines entsprechenden Nachweises zu verlangen. Von der M\u00f6glichkeit einer Unterschreitung der Anwesenheitsverpflichtung ausgenommen sind bei Lehramtsstudien die im Curriculum gekennzeichneten Praktika im Rahmen der p\u00e4dagogisch-praktischen Studien.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Free choice of examiner<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary>Free choice of examiner<\/summary>\n<p>\u00a731 HSG 2014:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-style-plain is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow is-style-plain--3\">\n<p>(5) Studierendenvertreterinnen und Studierendenvertreter sind berechtigt, anstelle von Einzelpr\u00fcfungen kommissionelle Pr\u00fcfungen abzulegen. Die freie Wahl der Pr\u00fcferinnen und Pr\u00fcfer ist ab dem zweiten Pr\u00fcfungsantritt zul\u00e4ssig. Diese Berechtigungen erstrecken sich auch auf die beiden darauffolgenden Semester nach dem Semester der Beendigung der Funktion als Studierendenvertreterin oder Studierendenvertreter.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/details>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Work as a student representative (whether as an StV or in a collegiate organ) is voluntary and unpaid.
